On June 15 nine boats assembled at Ortega Landing Marina in Jacksonville, Fl in preparation for our cruise to Savannah, Ga via Jekyll Island and back. Some launched at various cities long the St Johns river and a few at Jacksonville. Some of us had children and grandchildren along with us. We all met for pizza in the clubhouse for the Captains/Chart meeting where everyone was welcomed by our directors. After meeting we all adjourned to the docks for our preparation for the trip to Jekyll Island, Ga on Saturday.
We had a great ride to Jekyll and relaxed with the many activities and restaurants available. The kids tried to wear the old folks out riding all over Jekyll on Sunday.
Monday we headed for Savannah and had another uneventful and beautiful cruise to the Savannah Westin Marina. We spent the next two and half days longing around the pool in the cabana provided gratis to us or enjoyed exploring and dining in Savannah’s historic river walk.
Thursday we headed back to Jekyll Island for an overnight stay and enjoyed another beautiful weather day and a dip in the pool upon arrival.
Friday we headed back to Jacksonville for our final official night on KBAC. After a chicken dinner provided by KBAC and our sister organization Central Florida Cruise Club was enjoyed by all we all headed to the dock for our last evening of socializing.
Penny Waldo set up a scavenger hunt for entertainment during the trip and awarded prizes individually and by boat.
Saturday most headed home reluctantly pondering where we might adventure in 2019.
Stay tuned for that exciting announcement.
